AUBURN, Ala.- Auburn Parks and Recreation will conduct a cemetery cleanup at Town Creek, Memorial Park, Pine Hill and Westview cemeteries during the week of Jan. 13. As part of the cleanup, cemetery crews will begin removing all unauthorized materials placed on graves.

Signs have been displayed at the cemeteries since before Christmas to inform visitors that only flowers and flags placed in designated flower arrangements are permitted on grave sites. United States flags are allowed in the ground at grave sites during designated flag holidays.

Salvageable items removed during the cleanup will be placed in designated areas at each cemetery to allow visitors the opportunity to retrieve them:

• Town Creek Cemetery: Items will be placed at the maintenance barn.
• Memorial Park Cemetery: Items will be placed in the enclosed fence area at the back of the cemetery.
• Pine Hill Cemetery: Items will be placed near the flagpole by the rear fence.
• Westview Cemetery: Items will be placed along the fence on the hill to the right upon entry.
